Emphasizing Protection & Comfort: The Product Within the Product

Along with manufacturing custom-made products and specialty packaging, UFP Technologies also has a significant part of its business invested in designing, developing, and manufacturing components.  Components can be used for a wide variety of applications, all of which function to further enhance the protection, productivity, safety or functionality of the end product.  These components are custom-designed to meet the specific needs of our customers and are manufactured in-house.

For example, UFP Technologies makes a variety of components that are essential for our customers in the sports and leisure segment of our consumer market.  With many years Sports & Leisure Custom Componentsof experience in designing and fabricating the lining for sports helmets, UFP Technologies team of engineers recently worked with a long-time sports manufacturing client to produce a new and improved hockey helmet.   This customer came to us to see how we could enhance the comfort and support of their helmets in order to meet the needs and expectations of today’s athletes.  Our engineers collaborated with their design team to produce a more comfortable helmet with improved lining to fit within their product.  With our access to hundreds of different foams and specialty materials, we were able to choose the right combination of materials that could accomplish everything our customer wanted – comfort, support, and protection.

Our engineers also specialize in designing and manufacturing component solutions that emphasize comfort and protection for our aerospace and defense customers.  Our Aerospace & Defense Custom Componentscustom solutions range from backpacks and duty belts used by soldiers in combat, to holsters for police and homeland security officers.   We have the unique manufacturing capabilities to achieve levels of protection and support that are competitors simply cannot.  For instance, our fabrication expertise has allowed us to use flame lamination in order to fabricate the extraordinarily durable ballistic material to cross-linked, closed cell foam.  This unique combination of materials was the perfect fit for our military partners and the components they needed in order to do their job.
