Compression molding

Compression molding is a high-volume, high-pressure method suitable for molding complex, high-strength materials. Advanced composite thermoplastics can also be compression molded with unidirectional tapes, woven fabrics, randomly orientated fiber mat or chopped strand. The advantage of compression molding is its ability to mold large, fairly intricate parts.

Simco Automotive excels in a one step process that combines most Class A cover stocks in the molding process for a flawless adhesion and intricate part design. We mold headliner materials, non-woven, leather, decorative applications, insert moldings or a combination of materials.

Components that Simco Automotive mold in a one step process include sun shades, seat backs, door panels, door bolsters, arm rests, and center consoles. Materials include: natural fiber, glass fiber composites, honeycomb, foam and foam laminates.

SuperForming

SuperForming utilizes a combination of compression molding, vacuum assist and patented technology to form intricate Class A surface components such as door bolsters, seat backs, and other interior trim components.

Twin Sheet Molding

Twin sheet molding is a form of compression molding which incorporates two materials which are separated by air in the molding process. It is similar to blow molding, but traditional compression molded materials can also be used if a barrier film is added.

Examples of twin sheet molded applications include load floors, tire covers, side panels, etc.

Water Jet

A water jet cutter is a tool capable of slicing into metal or other materials using a jet of water at high velocity and pressure, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. The process is essentially the same as water erosion found in nature but accelerated and concentrated by orders of magnitude. It is often used during the fabrication or manufacturing of parts for machinery and other devices.
