The flame laminating process utilizes a flame to melt the surface of the foam material so that it turns into a tacky substance that essentially acts as an adhesive to laminate goods to the sides of the foam.
Laminating with adhesives is one of the most traditional ways to make composite foam products and it remains an efficient and economical alternative for many applications. This process is effective on a wide variety of materials and there are many types of adhesives to choose from including heat activated, pressure sensitive, moisture activated, acrylic, etc.
Heat laminating typically involves melting the surfaces of the foam or heat activated adhesives and then bonding them under the pressure of the lamination rollers.
