Position Summary:

The Divisional Human Resources (HR) Generalist will perform the human resource functions in support of a division which may have multiple work sites. The incumbent will report directly to the Regional Human Resources Manager with dotted line reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Director and be responsible for disseminating all Corporate HR initiatives and programs. The Divisional HR Generalist will perform HR related duties at the divisional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment and employment, training and development, employee relations, affirmative action, safety programs and employee recognition and compensation/incentive programs. The HR Generalist may also assist Corporate HR with projects or other corporate HR duties.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinates and conducts the full cycle recruiting process for the division (i.e. posting jobs internally and externally, scheduling interviews, interviewing candidates, initiating background screens, setting up pre-employment drug screens, and generating and sending offer letters).
  • Coordinates temporary staffing needs and partners with local staffing agencies to obtain the best rate for the division for purchased staffing needs.
  • Maintains affirmative action program recordkeeping.
  • Partners with employees and management to provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, standards, documentation, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Serves as an unbiased resource in the corrective action process by coaching, counseling and guiding managers. Advises managers prior to the execution of employee disciplinary procedures.
  • Works with the Regional HR Manager to provide counsel to management on performance management issues and objectives.
  • Monitors the day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.
  • Oversees employee leaves of absence and time off including Family & Medical Leaves of Absence (FMLA).
  • Serves as an extension of the corporate HR team during the annual open enrollment process by distributing materials and assisting with the effective communication of benefit plans and changes.
  • Develops and maintains employee recognition and morale programs including the Corporate Service Award Program as well as division specific programs.
  • Responds and represents the division for unemployment claims.
  • Manages workers compensation administration.
  • Coordinates with Regional and corporate HR on all involuntary terminations prior to termination. Ensures proper documentation and ensures processing of termination is completed in proper time frame.
  • Responsible for researching opportunities to promote the division with the local and state resources and associations (i.e. the local Chamber of Commerce, state grants etc.).
  • Conducts new employee orientations to ensure that employees gain an understanding of the company’s policies, procedures, benefit plans, and enrollment provisions, as well as, divisional responsibilities.
  • Maintains employment and training records on division personnel.
  • Administers weekly reporting of locations hours to the payroll department and attendance reporting.
  • Responsible for overseeing employee benefit administration with regard to eligibility, enrollment, and the day-to-day administration for the division and its employees.
  • Disseminates corporate HR directives and employee communications.
  • May assist corporate HR with projects.
  • Travels less than 5%.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
 
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3 to 5 years
  • HR Generalist experience.
  • HR Professional Certification preferred; i.e. SHRM CP.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
