Position Summary:  

The Quality Process Engineer utilizes engineering methodologies and other analytics to initiate and implement the quality management system that encompasses both products and processes within the facility. In addition, this position pursues improved operational effectiveness through the refinement of existing procedures and business processes to optimize validations, manufacturing processes, error proofing, and other quality system tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares advanced quality planning documents and participates in quality planning activities; including FMEA’s, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, Gage R&R and feasibility studies.
  • Creates necessary documentation for customer initial sample submissions.
  • Participates with Engineering team in all phases of the customer’s launch activities; including team meetings, assembly trials, and SOP activities.
  • Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on production, quality, process, and equipment issues using problem solving methods.
  • Coordinates the resolution of quality issues and implementation of countermeasures with other departments and suppliers.
  • Evaluates process capability using statistical tools.
  • Works with suppliers as needed to identify root causes of defects in their processes/products.
  • Works with the engineering team to implement component/process design changes as needed (and where possible) to improve assembly processes by making them more efficient while improving the overall quality of the product. 
  • Conducts time studies for different processes within the quality management processes.
  • Sets up testing of the cleanroom environment and reviews results for acceptability.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Two years' experience within a manufacturing quality engineering role.
  • Must be a creative problem solver with mechanical aptitude and ability to visualize and implement.
  • Strong analytical skills, with an aptitude for detail oriented work and problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate desired design and specifications for fixtures and assembly equipment to internal and outside vendors while at the same time being open to vendor suggestions - team approach.
  • Must be familiar with PC-based programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Minitab.
  • Experience in medical subassembly and finished device manufacturing, a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
