Cleanroom and controlled environments

UFP Technologies has six manufacturing facilities throughout the country that are ISO 13485:2003 certified which house multiple ISO Class 8 (Class 100,000) and ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) cleanrooms and controlled environments. Within these facilities we utilize HEPA air flow systems to eliminate particulate and perform bioburden testing to ensure low microbial levels.

Our certified cleanroom and controlled environment facilities are equipped to fabricate an array of medical-grade foams, films, and other specialty materials. Our facilities are at the forefront of using advanced processes to launder medical-grade foams and other materials for cleanroom and critical application use.

Cleanroom laundering

Our facilities are equipped with the ability to launder medical-grade foams and other materials to ensure that our solutions meet the stringent requirements of the medical industry. With a quality management system certified in both ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 13485: 2003, we maintain a high quality standard throughout our processing environment.

Compression molding

Compression molding is a manufacturing process in which three-dimensional shapes are created using heat and pressure. We have extensive experience compression molding foams, fabrics and other specialty materials for medical applications including surgical instrument packaging, orthopedic soft goods and various medical device components.

RF welding

Radio frequency welding (or high frequency welding) is the process of bonding together materials through the use of electromagnetic energy. We can perform RF welding on various types of rigid plastics and medical grade foams. RF welding provides a consistent air tight seal which is crucial for the functionality of medical device packaging.

High speed die cutting

High speed die cutting is a fabrication process to cut and shape materials using various types of tooling and high tonnage presses. Our ability to die-cut within cleanroom environments allows us to produce sterilize products and components.


We have the ability to thermoform and fabricate a variety of foams, plastics and other materials. Our unique ability to combine rigid plastics and foams allows us to transform simple thermoformed trays and packages into highly protective cushioned packaging for medical devices.

UFP Technologies utilizes these capabilities to manufacture custom components, products and packaging for some of the world’s leading medical device and orthopedic implant manufacturers.
