Thermoformed Packaging and Components
UFP Technologies specializes in thermoforming custom packaging and components for the medical industry. Utilizing an array of medical grade rigid plastics, closed-cell foams, and specialty materials, UFP Technologies has the ability to design and manufacture a variety of custom thermoformed solutions such as trays, blisters, clamshells and more.
Our unique ability to combine rigid plastics and foams allows us to transform simple thermoformed trays and packages into highly protective cushioned packaging for medical devices. This unique solution provides both shock and vibration protection throughout the distribution chain, while permitting sterilization for items such as hip implants.
Identification & Retrieval
The use of clear, thermoformed plastics creates a protective plastic shell and facilitates item identification and retrieval while engineered compression molded foam retainers enable a single tray or package design to accommodate different products. This reduces tooling costs and the need to inventory multiple-sized packaging components.
TPU & Thermoformed Trays
Utilizing our FlexShield® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material within your thermoformed packaging system will ensure the integrity of the sterile barrier between your instruments and outside contaminates. FlexShield is a puncture and abrasion resistance film used for medical applications. Its flexibility, durability, and sterility lend itself to providing excellent protection for safely shipping medical instruments without incurring damage to external packaging.
Standard Base Trays
UFP Technologies can adapt current packaging to future product designs by using a standardized base tray or package along with modified foam inserts, saving time and money. Additionally, a wide variety of foam colors can add a bold, distinctive look to a package, enhancing brand recognition.
