Choosing the Right Manufacturing Partner: Quality Certifications

UFP Technologies offers solutions across a vast range of industries including the medical, automotive, aerospace & defense, and packaging markets. By investing in manufacturing quality certifications for the industries that we serve, we are able to ensure our customers high process quality, safety of products, traceability throughout the supply chain and ultimately enhanced satisfaction.

UFPT employee Erik Cartagena working on PressAn ISO 9001 certification simply states that a manufacturing plant has implemented a quality management system and has demonstrated its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements. Ultimately, this certification ensures the customer that their manufacturer will aptly perform the manufacturing process to the customer’s satisfaction and that the necessary steps have been taken to ensure a consistent product. Earning the ISO 9001 certification requires some financial resources and the management experience to implement a quality management system unique to each facility.

ISO 13485 certification is awarded to facilities that have implemented a quality management system to manufacture goods for the medical industry. Our facilities produce components, products and specialty packaging for the medical industry made out of foams, non-wovens, plastics, and pressure sensitive adhesives. Many of our medical solutions are made within our clean room and controlled environment facilities that are ISO Class 8 (Class 100,000) certified, and are upgradeable to ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) if necessary.

For the aerospace & defense industry, our Denver, Colorado facility has earned AS9100 certification for implementing a quality management system for fabricating aerospace & defense products. We offer high grade custom military equipment packaging solutions, tool control kits for preventing foreign object damage (FOD), and lightweight uniform and gear components such as explosion suppressant foams used in the fuel systems of aircrafts to prevent sloshing and potential damage.

The IATF 16949 certification is specific to the automotive industry. UFP Technologies has two facilities that have been awarded this certification for the precision manufacturing of interior automotive trim and structural components. By using lightweight yet durable materials, our products reduce vehicle weight to increase miles per gallon.
